Get Real

A Circus bus breaks down in Cicely and so the residents of Cicely end up playing host to the "Ludgwig Wittgenstein Masquerade and Reality Company". The Circus also brings to town a mute Flying Man who takes an instant like to Marilyn. Marilyn plays hard to get and refuses to go out with The Flying Man. The mute Flying Man is determined and Marilyn eventually agrees to have dinner with him at her parents house. Marilyn finally admits that she likes The Flying Man but when he asks her to go onto the road with him she decides to remain in Cicely.
When Joel reads his medical school alumni newsletter he suddenly becomes restless with being in Cicely Alaska because he believes med school underachievers are doing much better than he is. In an attempt to rectify his situation he decides to sub-specialize and he orders a set of esoteric medical text books and he begins to study day and night.
Holling looks at Shelly's feet and is shocked to find that she has big feet. He begins to worry that his love for Shelly may be coming to an end. He asks her to marry him so he doesn't feel so bad at being so shallow but Shelly knows that something is wrong. When he tells her the truth Shelly is devastated and runs to Maggie who gives her a talk on women's liberation. Fortunately for Holling the talk goes over Shelly's head and she eventually patches things up with him.
