Chris discovers a frozen body on a river in the Alaskan wilderness. The body is taken to
Holling's bar where the townsfolk try to figure out who he is. They disover he has a
journal that is written in French. They find that the man is called Pierre and that his
friend was Napoleon Bonaparte. According to the journal Napoleon was not at the
battle of Waterloo but was instead fishing in Alaska and he fathered a child with an
Indian woman. The townsfolk believe this new version of events except for Joel
who agonizes over the consequences this new shocking discovery will have on history.
Maurice on the other hand dreams of commercializing the discovery but his dream
is cut short when a tribe of French speaking Indians called the Tellakutans arrive to
claim the body. Joel falls asleep in the freezer with Pierre and dreams of Elijah and his
family in Poland. Joel races to Maurice's and claims that Pierre is an advancement
for the Messiah but Maurice laughs him off.
Holling is upset by his need to tell Shelly that he is not a common man after all but
that he comes from a royal line of wicked men. Shelly on the other hand worries that
Holling is acting strange because she may be infertile.
Ed sends his script to a man who if you pay him will supply critical analysis. Ed
gets a job at Ruth Anne's and when Ed gets his critical analysis he is bitterly
disappointed but Ruth-Anne cheers him up.
